I really wasn't terribly happy with this piece [link] , not that I didn't like it, just that... it didn't come out as nicely as I had hoped, definitely not up to the standard of the wonderful songs that inspired it. So I decided to give it a second life in a medium I KNOW I couldn't screw up (as much). I was planning to translate the lyrics myself, but I found a pretty good translation online. It's actually quite similar to the one I was going to use, the main difference is that they use お天気 where I was going to use 晴れ . I was actually humming Le Festin a lot more while making this one than Les Champs-Élysées, actually. She's probably singing Champs-Élysées though. Where did that mouse in her bag go? Today's sprite was done from scratch, no sketching first. In some ways I actually prefer this method, I don't worry as much about getting it to fit the original sketch. The colouring and format are based on KU-BO's work [link] , which in turn is likely inspired by Tasogare Frontier's games. All his sprites use a 120x120 canvas, which is a little new for me, but worked out pretty well. I limited myself to 24 colours, but expanded my palette by only using 3 shades per tone. Also, the shading colours were picked out individually instead of using the gradiation tool that GraphicsGale has. This could've gone better (should've used more vibrant colours), but for now I think it looks okay.
